Sun Temple of Almora



I am back after long time friends
 
This time I got chance to go to Sun Temple of Almora. This is a temple complex.  From Almora to Kosi village I took taxi but after this I had to trek for about 2 km.  Which I like the most.  This area is very beautiful and very scenic. Huge Himalaya Range can be seen from here.

Sun Temple was built by a Katyuri Dynasty King named Katarmalla. Architect of this temple is same like other temples in the Uttarakhand region. Stones instead of bricks have been extensively used. Clamps made of iron have been used to keep the stones together in the 40-odd temples. Sculptures, carved pillars and wooden doors lend an artistic touch to the temples, many of which gently lean to one side with roots of trees climbing on to them.
In one temple there is a hole, it says that when sun rise its first rays cross through this hole and went inside the main temple of sun. This Sun temple is second one temple of God Sun in India. First one is in Konark…
